Vegan and Gluten Free For All
Most vegans and people who live gluten-free will tell you they don’t have a hard time finding delicious food that they enjoy. But for those who aren’t familiar with the mysterious ways of vegans and those who are gluten-free, finding delicious gifts that they’ll really love can be a headache. According to Business Insider, some of the foods that (rather rudely) contain gluten are some flavours of ice cream, soy sauce, California roll sushi, and even chocolate.
As a vegan and someone who has gluten-free friends, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stared at a potato chip bag or bar of chocolate, trying to figure out if it has animal products or gluten in it. But it shouldn’t be that hard – that’s why we take the guesswork out, with our locally-sourced and handcrafted gift baskets.
Even vegans love chocolate – they just wish there was more of it that they could eat! Our vegan gift baskets include delicious chocolate bars from Zazubean. One of their bars, Sassy, is made with coconut milk instead of animal products, and sweetened with coconut sugar. Sassy is flavoured with pomegranate, hazelnut, and sea salt. Their other chocolate bar we’ve included in both vegan gift baskets is Hottie, a 70% dark chocolate bar uniquely flavoured with chilli pepper, cinnamon and Yerba Mate, an energizing plant from South America. Our larger vegan basket has two more bars as well.
For the gluten-free snackers, Denman Island Chocolates will satisfy your cravings. Their delicious Cherry Cashew Dark Chocolates and Toasted Hazelnut Dark Chocolate Bar are both made with FairTrade chocolate, and high cocoa mass, so you can feel good about your snack – as long as you don’t eat it all at once (but I won’t judge if you do). Not to mention, they’re in all three of our gluten-free gift baskets.
Something both those who are gluten-free and vegans can love is the Chocolate Glop from Kapow Now!. It’s the decadent chocolate spread that you can put on bread, or mix with the drink of your choice to make a healthy hot chocolate. It gives certain other chocolate spreads a run for their money – but I won’t name names. And unlike some of those chocolate spreads, Chocolate Glop is actually good for you; it only has six ingredients. It’s packed with fiber-rich dates, hemp hearts, and even coconut oil instead of unsustainable palm oil. Find it in this gluten-free basket and this vegan gift basket.
Vancouverites – and Canadians in general – have a reputation for a healthy lifestyle and love of our amazing natural environment and wildlife. For many, maintaining their health means foregoing animal products and gluten, and preserving the environment by limiting their participation in animal agriculture. For whatever reason someone may be vegan or gluten-free, we’re happy to accommodate them.
